Tick

I found some ticks on our canines,
They made my flesh crawl,
They inspired such hateful emotions,
For being one so small.
I also wondered about the name,
Why would it be "tick"?
Awful blood sucking scumbag parasite,
Would surely do the trick?
But upon closer reflection it's appropriate,
"Terrible Insect, Can Kill",
Can also be shortened to TICK,
So I guess it fits the bill.
